Pastor Keith Reuther
I grew up in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, attending a Covenant church from birth. As a child I enjoyed swimming, riding my bike, and walking in the woods near our home. I was active in our church from a very young age and went to the YMCA almost every Saturday when I was a kid. During the summers, I swam on the local swim team, went boating on the lake behind our house, and attended summer camp at Camp Mission Meadows. At age 12, I started working in the family business on weekends and summers, mowing the lawn and filing blueprints. When I was sixteen, I began working in the plant assembling molds.
I attended Albion College after I graduated from high school and worked at Camp Mission Meadows for three of those summers. A little over a year after I graduated from Albion College, I met my wife, Sandy at YMCA Camp Ohiyesa in Holly, Michigan, when I was applying for a job there. We started dating about a month later and were married about a year later in May of 1985. We continued to work at the camp for another couple of years. In March of 1989 we moved to my hometown so I could work in the family business. We attended the church of my youth and we started to lead the Jr High youth ministry there. Bill, our oldest, was born in 1990 with Becca, Bob, and Beth to follow over the next 6 years.
In the fall of 1993, when I was helping to lead a Jr High retreat, the Lord convicted me to grow in my commitment to Him. This led to a time of deep spiritual renewal. By the spring of 1995, I began to really sense the call and had multiple affirmations that this was where God was leading me and my family. Leaving behind our former lives in Ohio, we moved to Chicago in August of 1996 to attend North Park Theological Seminary.
In June of 1999, we moved to northwest Kansas to serve Herndon Covenant Church which is a small rural congregation. For the next 22 years we remained there and during this time, Sandy went to school to get her secondary education degree in math and our 4 children grew to be adults.
